1. What inspired you to become a tattoo artist?
Since highschool I’ve been obsessed with the art and culture of tattooing. Which let me to pursue an apprenticeship after.
2. How did you learn the skills necessary for tattooing?
Traditional formal apprenticeship, over seen by at least a dozen different artists in Daytona Beach
3. What is your favorite tattoo style to work on?
Anything with full vibrant color, but I tend to lean towards anime and pop culture styles tattoos.
4. How do you approach the design process with clients?
Look at style references and hear how they want the tattoo to look, and find a happy middle that accomplishes both the desired style and a proper tattoos structure.
5. What advice do you give clients who are getting their first tattoo?
It’s not as bad as everyone says.
6. What safety and hygiene practices do you follow in your studio?
Post op cleaning of station and tools, and general sterilization practices.
7. How do you handle clients who are nervous about getting tattooed?
Try to talk them through staying calm then starting off with small light lines to give a feel for the tattoo.
8. Can you tell us about any memorable tattoos you’ve created?
My favorite so far has to be a gear 5 luffy ripping out of his wanted poster, because of both my love for the anime and how happy the client was after the tattoo.
9. What trends do you see emerging in the tattoo industry?
We’re gonna be doing a lot of cover ups in the coming years.
10. What do you love most about being a tattoo artist?
Freedom to create permanent art on someone that makes them have a better outlook on their appearance. Changing mindsets through art is what it’s all about and we get to do it everyday.
